About Us

The Chemical Metallurgy and Materials Chemistry (CMMC) research group is based in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia. Our research spans the materials lifecycle — from primary resource extraction and processing to the design of next-generation alloys and functional materials — united by a shared commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.

Our group brings together expertise in extractive and process metallurgy, secondary resource recovery, computationally-guided alloy design, and sustainable biomaterials. Through our Sustainable Resources Recovery and Processing (SR2P) research theme, we focus on recovering critical metals and materials from ores, industrial waste streams, and end-of-life products, advancing circular economy principles in materials processing. This work is complemented by research in high-entropy and medium-entropy alloy design, Co-free maraging steels, integrated computational materials engineering (ICME), and biodegradable polymer composites for biomedical applications.

Our work connects fundamental metallurgical science with real-world sustainability challenges, contributing to Indonesia’s growing role in responsible resource management and advanced materials development.
