A research cluster based in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia that brings together faculty members, researchers, students, and academic and non-academic partners who share an interest in advancing political science through the lens of comparative politics. The cluster focuses on regional studies—particularly the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Eastern and Western Europe, and North Africa—as well as the dynamics of civic communities, social movements, and political culture that shape social and political change across different contexts.

COMPARE was established to strengthen the tradition of research that employs comparative politics as its primary analytical framework for understanding political phenomena across countries, regions, and communities. Beyond conducting research, the cluster serves as a platform for intellectual exchange through discussion forums, seminars, conferences, and other academic activities that explore regional, community, and cultural issues from a comparative political perspective.

As part of its commitment to producing and disseminating knowledge, COMPARE promotes the publication of research in internationally reputable academic journals while also expanding access to key scholarly works through the translation of relevant academic publications into Indonesian. These initiatives are carried out in collaboration with established publishers with experience in the publication and distribution of academic books.

The cluster is also committed to developing non-degree educational programs, including summer schools, workshops, and regular training sessions that bring together participants from Indonesia and around the world. Through these initiatives, COMPARE seeks to foster an inclusive learning environment that is interdisciplinary, cross-regional, and cross-cultural.
