The Technology and Politics Research Cluster is one of the research clusters within the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia. The cluster explores the intersection between technological development and contemporary political dynamics. We examine how technology shapes political processes, governance, and state–society relations, as well as how political actors and institutions influence the development and use of technology.
Our research addresses emerging issues at the intersection of technology and politics, including technology and elections, artificial intelligence and politics, digital political participation, digital democracy, and digital authoritarianism. We also examine the broader political and social consequences of digitalization, including digital repression, digital rights and civic space, the digital divide, the future of work, and the role of digital technologies in social movements. Our research also extends to technological innovation and new and renewable energy technologies in relation to economic development and society.
