What is LiKE

Financial Innovation Research Cluster

The research group will undertake activities in the areas of education, research, and community engagement related broadly to the field of finance. More specifically, the research group will focus on at least three key areas:

First, contemporary issues concerning developments in the financial sector that intersect with other sectors or fields, such as sustainable finance, digital finance, decentralized finance (DeFi), and related areas.

Second, recent innovations in the financial sector, ranging from financial institutions and financial markets to financial products and instruments, such as securitization, carbon exchanges, cryptocurrency, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), warehouse receipts, fintech lending, peer-to-peer lending, buy now, pay later (BNPL), and others.

Third, various initiatives and efforts to promote financial inclusion, financial deepening, and sustainable finance in Indonesia, including those related to ecosystem development, regulatory frameworks, and the role of the private sector.

Although the core focus of this research group is finance, membership is not limited to lecturers or researchers with a background in finance. This is because many of the issues addressed by the research group require multidisciplinary perspectives and expertise.

The research group will also seek to establish partnerships with various relevant stakeholders, including government institutions, regulators, industry participants, businesses, investors, and communities, in order to maximize its impact and establish sustainable sources of funding.

The expected outputs of the research group include scholarly articles, research and policy studies, policy briefs, training programs, seminars, and other community engagement activities.
