23 July 2026 | NCKU, Taiwan
On 23 July 2026, Wiwit Ratnasari, PhD, researcher at the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia, was invited to deliver an academic session titled “Consumer Behavior in the Age of Fake News” at the Department of Business Administration, College of Management, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan.
The session was part of Dr. Wiwit’s academic visit to NCKU from 20–27 July 2026 and brought together graduate students from the Department of Business Administration for an interactive discussion on the relationship between information behavior and consumer behavior. The session explored how individuals evaluate information, develop trust, and make consumption decisions in an increasingly complex digital information environment.
Through interactive activities and discussion, Dr. Wiwit invited participants to reflect on how they encounter and evaluate information in their everyday digital lives. The discussion examined how misinformation and changing patterns of digital information can influence consumer perceptions, trust in brands, and decision-making, as well as the implications of these dynamics for organizations and communication strategies.

The session closely resonates with the research agenda of the Knowledge Diffusion and Information Dynamics (DIHUM) Research Center, particularly its interest in understanding how knowledge and information are sought, shared, interpreted, and used across social, cultural, and technological systems. The intersection between information behavior and consumer behavior provides an important perspective for examining how information flows shape individual decisions and organizational responses.
The discussion with NCKU graduate students also opened broader conversations around social media behavior, consumer trust, misinformation, and opportunities for interdisciplinary research connecting Library and Information Science with business and management. These conversations demonstrate how questions concerning information dynamics extend beyond traditional information settings and intersect with broader issues of human behavior, organizations, technology, and society.
Beyond the session, Dr. Wiwit’s academic visit included research meetings, scholarly discussions, and exchanges with faculty members and students from the Department of Business Administration. These activities provided opportunities to discuss emerging research interests and explore potential areas for future collaboration.
For DIHUM Research Center, Dr. Wiwit’s engagement at NCKU reflects the Center’s commitment to developing international and interdisciplinary research networks. By connecting research in Library and Information Science with emerging questions in consumer research, management, digital information, and artificial intelligence, the Center seeks to deepen understanding of how information moves, transforms, and shapes decisions in contemporary society.
The engagement at NCKU contributes to the Center’s broader effort to foster collaborative research and scholarly exchange across institutional and disciplinary boundaries, while advancing its mission to understand and reimagine how knowledge moves and transforms society.
