“Strengthening Nursing Foundations: Integrating Philosophical Values and Scientific Excellence”
Welcome to the Philosophy, Fundamentals, and Basic Science in Nursing (PFBSN) Research Cluster at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia.
As the foundational core of nursing science, our cluster is dedicated to the profound synergy between the ethical-philosophical values that define our profession and the rigorous biomedical evidence that ensures clinical safety. Our mission is to foster an environment where diverse foundational sciences—from human ethics to biological mechanisms—are integrated to improve patient outcomes and societal well-being.
As a collaborative group, our research initiatives focus on transforming nursing concepts into impactful innovations, structured through our core pillars:
- Philosophical Inquiry & Nursing Ethics: Investigating the values, professional norms, and ethical principles—such as autonomy, justice, and accountability—that serve as the moral compass for nursing practice.
- Fundamentals of Nursing & Theory: Developing and testing both classic and modern nursing theories, including the metaparadigm of person, environment, health, and nursing.
- Basic Biomedical Sciences: Applying anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to enhance clinical safety and efficacy in daily nursing care.
- Basic Human Needs: Prioritizing evidence-based research on Rest and Sleep Quality, alongside oxygenation, pain management, and holistic comfort care through a bio-psycho-socio-spiritual lens.
- Nursing Education: Advancing the quality of nursing through innovative pedagogical research and competency-based curriculum development.
Through our various funded projects—ranging from metabolomics and spiritual care to sleep hygiene and healthcare technology—we strive to provide meaningful scientific innovations for the community. We invite colleagues, students, and global partners to join our collaborative journey in strengthening the scientific roots of nursing care.
