About Us

Our research group specializes in the political economy of health, with a strong foundation in health economics and a strategic emphasis on policy-relevant research. We investigate how political interests, economic structures, and institutional dynamics influence the development, implementation, and outcomes of health policies, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

Tobacco is not merely a public health issue. it is deeply intertwined with regulatory, economic, and political interests. Our research investigates the broader structural dimensions, including the role of government and non-government organization, the influence of fiscal instruments like excise taxes, and the social and economic implications of tobacco control interventions.

Our work spans critical issues such as health financing, taxation for health, access and equity in healthcare systems. We combine empirical research with critical political economy perspectives, using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods to analyze complex health system challenges.
