The five-year roadmap of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing is strategically designed to build a strong research foundation and progressively advance toward becoming a nationally and internationally recognized center of excellence. In the first year, the primary focus is on strengthening research infrastructure through the finalization of the five-year research roadmap, establishment of administrative systems, and development of an official research group website. Foundational studies utilizing national secondary datasets are conducted to generate preliminary evidence and scholarly outputs. During this phase, at least three external research grant proposals are submitted to initiate sustainable research funding. The targeted outputs include a finalized roadmap, two publications in reputable journals, external grant submissions with a cumulative value of at least IDR 500 million, an operational website, and capacity-building activities for research team members.

In the second year, the research group prioritizes the development of innovative mental health nursing interventions and expands national and international collaborations. Funded projects are implemented optimally, while additional national and international grant applications are submitted to strengthen funding sustainability. The expected outputs include Scopus-indexed publications, one intellectual property right (IPR) for an intervention module, at least one secured external research grant, formal collaborative partnerships, and increased research visibility through dissemination in popular media.

The third year emphasizes enhancing collaborative scientific productivity and strengthening contributions to policy development. Partnerships with various institutions are expanded, dissemination webinars are organized for stakeholders and students, and further international grant applications are pursued. The targeted outputs include high-impact publications with strong citation metrics, additional intellectual property registrations, policy briefs derived from research findings, internal scientific writing workshops, and collaborative action research initiatives with institutional partners.

In the fourth year, the research group consolidates its role as a national reference center in mental health nursing intervention and mental health promotion research. Strategic activities include policy advocacy training for team members, dissemination of research findings to national policymakers and stakeholders, and submission of advanced international grant proposals. Expected outputs encompass an increased number of high-quality reputable publications, additional intellectual property rights, policy briefs and formal policy recommendation reports, as well as the development of research-based teaching modules.

By the fifth year, the group aims to solidify its position as a knowledge and innovation hub at both national and international levels. Strategic initiatives include organizing workshops within international conferences and securing sustained international research funding. The final targeted outputs consist of a significant increase in high-impact publications, additional intellectual property registrations, publication of academic textbooks, expanded policy briefs, and strengthened international recognition and media exposure. Overall, this roadmap demonstrates a systematic and progressive trajectory from foundational capacity building to achieving center of excellence status in the field of mental health nursing intervention and mental health promotion.

Roadmap

Over the next five years, we are committed to evolving our cluster into a premier international center for psychiatric nursing innovation. We begin by strengthening our research foundation through epidemiological data mapping and the activation of our administrative support systems and cluster website. Next, we will pivot toward innovation by conducting clinical intervention trials and expanding our collaborative networks across national and international borders. Subsequently, we aim to lead national policy advocacy and develop research-based teaching modules to influence psychiatric healthcare standards. Finally, we will solidify our global leadership through international conference workshops and the publication of definitive textbooks, all while maintaining our commitment to delivering real-world social benefits for mental health on both a national and global scale.
