Biography

Arie Afriansyah is a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. Arie has 20 years of experience as a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at Universitas Indonesia, with a focus on International Law. Arie earned his Bachelor of Laws from the same university in 2003, where he was named the best graduate. He completed his Master’s degree in international law from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2006, before finally earning a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Otago, New Zealand. Arie’s area of expertise encompasses international law, maritime security law, and international trade and investment, which he has consistently demonstrated across various roles in the legal profession. As an academic, Arie also serves as Chair of the Indonesian Society of International Law Lecturers. Arie also serves as Editor-in-Chief of renowned international journals and actively publishes on both Indonesian and international law. He has assisted various governmental and private organisations with policy analysis and evaluation of government compliance with international instruments.
