Biography

Hadi Rahmat Purnama is a Public International Law Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, where he has been teaching since 2004. He has more than 20 years of extensive experience in public international law, human rights, international trade law, international investment law, peace studies, and legal capacity development. His expertise encompasses international legal frameworks, governance, human rights, peace and conflict studies, international economic law, and the role of law in addressing complex security and sustainable development challenges. He has also been actively involved in transnational law and access-to-justice initiatives, including legal education and institutional capacity-building programs in Indonesia.

Currently, he serves as the Chairperson of the Center for International Law Studies at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. He has advised the Government of Indonesia on a wide range of issues relating to international trade, investment, and human rights, providing legal and policy expertise to various government institutions, including the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).

Previously, Hadi served as Chairperson of the Human Rights Center, Research Committee for the Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research, and Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA), a program funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). He also served as a Trade Lawyer for the Indonesia Trade Assistance Project (ITAP), implemented under the auspices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Throughout his academic and professional career, he has delivered numerous researches, training programs and capacity-building initiatives in international trade and investment law, human rights, and international humanitarian law for government institutions, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders.
