Centre for Cultivating Humanism and Professionalism (Humanisme dan Profesionalisme, CULTIVATE) is a hub advancing medical and health professions education and research to foster a sustainable environment in which health professionals deliver care with clinical rigour and compassion.
“Cultivating human connection and professional excellence at the heart of medicine.”
The current healthcare system faces complex challenges, including ethical violations by healthcare professionals, a well-being crisis within the workforce, high rates of burnout and depression among medical trainees, and instances of doctors sharing social media posts that conflict with societal values. This underscores that today, it is no longer sufficient for doctors to be solely skilled in clinical procedures; they must also be deeply humanistic and professional.
Fundamentally, the discipline of medical education aims to ensure that the entire educational process produces humanistic and professional healthcare providers who prioritise the needs of the public above their personal interests. Grounded in contemporary health issues, academic philosophy, the department’s vision, and the research trajectory of Universitas Indonesia, the Department of Medical Education at FKUI has initiated the research group CULTIVATE .
