The Clinical Immunology and Internal Medicine Research Group is a research collective comprised of faculty members from the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. This group consists of researchers who are Internal Medicine Specialists representing various subspecialties.
Internal Medicine is a discipline dedicated to addressing adult health issues in a holistic (bio-psycho-socio-spiritual) and comprehensive manner (encompassing diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, and rehabilitative aspects). The field comprises 11 subspecialties: Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Gastroenterohepatology, Geriatrics, Nephrology and Hypertension, Medical Hematology-Oncology, Cardiology, Metabolic-Endocrine, Psychosomatic and Palliative Care, Respirology and Critical Illness, Rheumatology, and Tropical and Infectious Diseases. These eleven disciplines are interconnected, where multidisciplinary research plays a pivotal role in addressing various health issues prevalent in society.
The rising prevalence of both communicable and non-communicable diseases within the scope of internal medicine poses significant challenges for healthcare practitioners, particularly in diagnostics and treatment. Nearly all these conditions are intrinsically linked to aspects of clinical immunology, which serves as an integral component of internal medicine. Immunological aspects play a significant role in pathogenesis and therapy; thus, an immunological approach is expected to provide solutions to these various challenges.
This research group was established to address increasingly complex global health challenges through multidisciplinary research focused on the intricate relationship between immune system dysregulation and internal medicine. As a platform for scientific collaboration, our primary focus is to strengthen evidence-based medicine, develop diagnostic and therapeutic innovations, and translate research findings into applicable health solutions for the community.
Our philosophy is firmly rooted in the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being. We believe that excellent research should not merely end in scientific journals but must culminate in tangible improvements in the health status of patients and society at large. Through the synergy of clinical expertise and research acumen, we are committed to being at the forefront of holistic and comprehensive management of immunological and internal medicine diseases.
Vision
To become an independent and superior research group in the field of Internal Medicine, specifically in integrated clinical immunology, creating a high impact on the health ecosystem of Indonesia and the world.
Mission
To realize this vision, we operate with the following strategic missions:
Supporting SDG Targets: To actively contribute to reducing morbidity and mortality rates of communicable and non-communicable diseases through research-based preventive and curative approaches, ensuring a healthy life and well-being for all ages.
