Community Ecology & Environmental Biology (CEEB)

Community Ecology & Environmental Biology Research Group

The Community Ecology & Environmental Biology Research Group focuses on understanding ecological patterns and processes across forest, marine, and freshwater ecosystems. The group investigates species composition, diversity, population dynamics, and trophic interactions among animal and plant communities in both natural and human-modified landscapes. Through systematic field surveys, long-term ecological monitoring, and experimental approaches, the team examines how environmental gradients, climate variability, pollution and anthropogenic pressures shape community structure and ecosystem functioning. Quantitative analyses, including multivariate statistics and spatial ecology tools, are applied to assess biodiversity patterns and ecological resilience across terrestrial and aquatic systems.

In addition to community-level assessments, the research group explores functional ecology, species interactions, and ecosystem processes such as primary productivity, nutrient cycling, and habitat connectivity. By integrating ecological theory with applied environmental science, the team aims to generate knowledge that supports biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable resource management. Collaborative research with stakeholders and interdisciplinary partners ensures that scientific findings contribute to evidence-based environmental policy and adaptive management strategies in forest, marine, and freshwater environments.
